Round 16

Caledonia Celtic 2 - 1 Houston Odyssey
F_Urrlith (cal) 7'
J_Babor (hou) 8'
Leonardo (cal) 44'
Urrlith gets the 1st.

This was a game where all the scoring was done in the 1st half with the opening 10 minutes seeing both teams score. The last 2 weeks has seen both top 2 teams less than 1 point apart, this win and Paris drawing sees Caledonia extend their lead again to 3 points, with a slightly improved goal difference. 1 slip up by Shanes lads could see Paris snatch the Championship in the last rounds. It will be exciting to see what happens. Houston went into this game as the real underdogs (even allowing for their excellent away record), needing points here to try and push for 3rd place. It was always going to be a big ask against a team that has led the division from day 1 and they can be pleased that they acquitted themselves well. To make it to the playoffs Houston now need to win their last 2 games and hope that Spartak don't win again.

Houston welcome back their gun forward Flago back for next weeks game against Saskatoon, unfortunately they lose their young midfielder Narms who had a nasty injury.

FC Levski 2 - 5 Saskatoon Wanderers
B_Bong (sas) 12'
Aviron (lev) 25'
N_Foric (sas) 38' pen
Aviron (lev) 47'
N_Foric (sas) 52'
N_Foric (sas) 57'
N_Foric (sas) 63'
1 of 4 for Foric.

Saskatoon turn around last weeks 5-2 thrashing by Frogner to give the Div 3 whipping boys a similar beating. It was a fairly even game until 10 minutes or so into the 2nd half when Foric got 1st his hat trick and then banged in his 4th to really make it another shitty day for the Levski fans. This win gives the Saskatoon lads a positive goal difference which may have a bearing on the final table positions. They also did this without their 1st string keeper which is pretty amazing.

Levski is the team to have luck take a huge dump on them this week with both Congo and Aviron feeling the playful butt tweaking of the shaft monkey, but wait theres more.. Jonsson is out for the rest of the season taking an early end of season holiday, and as if that is not enough Gibon is back from suspension! Well OK I am reaching badly here, that last item isn't really bad. Saskatoon get their goalkeeper back, although do they really need him.

Barnsley Tykes 1 - 5 Apijarevoleada APR
P_Smegovic (api) 1'
P_Smegovic (api) 8'
P_Smegovic (api) 24'
P_Smegovic (api) 30'
P_Smegovic (api) 54'
R_Elmoor (bar) 58'

Walked in tough but found scoring tougher.

Well Barnsley have dropped the ball at the post and are out of the play off race, succumbing to a fired up Api. Actually they didn't just succumb they got hammered. Smegovic was the destroyer for Api taking the crown for 1 game superhero, from Froric in an earlier game. Not much to say about this game really, Api took the lead in the 1st minute and never let go. Barnsley got a consolation goal in the 58th minute bit I think they were too shellshocked to must much resistance.

The possible visit of the shaft monkey had Api player Gauenhoven clenching his sphincter in a desperate effort to avoid the inevitable this week. Alas it proved futile and the monkey went home happy and Gauenhoven a wretched mess. In other news Api get Colosimo back but lose Rounder for 2 weeks due to suspension. Barnsley lick their wounds and look to come back against Spartak next week. To help this end they get young Lambert back from injury

Frogner Farmers 1 - 0 Pasmaters
J_Bohn (fro) 30'

The defence gets this one.

Well, well, well, Frogner string 2 wins together who could have believed it. Last week they crapped all over glamour boys Saskatoon this week they do it slightly tougher against fellow strugglers Pasmaters. This was a very important win as it sees them move to 4 pts above Pasmaters and only 2 points behind Saskatoon who are out of the relegation zone. All is not lost for Pasmaters who if they win their next 2 games (by a big margin) and have some results go their way (Saskatoon and Frogner lose their last 2 badly) they can still avoid the relegation battle all together.

Rundgren for Frogner gets a slight anal probe from the Shaft monkey who I think was probably more focussed on the big job of giving Gauenhoven a good going over. Pasmaters gain 2 back and lose 2, with Lazanga and Malcolm back from suspension and injury while losing Ilic for 1 game and Revivo for essentially the rest of the season.

Paris Demons 0 - 0 Spartak Haifa

The most action came before the match.

Both teams would have preferred a win here but it was obvious from the start that Spartak were slowing the play down at every opportunity and playing for the point. They managed 1 shot on goal the entire match and the Paris boys pretty much dominated most of the game. However 3rd Divisions most miserly defence managed to at least hold them out. Paris really could have done with the full 3 points to keep the pressure on front runners Caledonia but they are now assured at least of a playoff spot, so Andy can breath a bit easier and look towards the next game against Frogner. Spartak square up against Barnsley next week where they will be itching to at least get a point and hope that Houston falter against Saskatoon to cement their own playoff spot.

Spartaks main reason for their very good defensive record is their main goal keeper B_Grois who now becomes their 2nd SL 13 player with this weeks SL increase. Spartak also welcome back Lotov from suspension for the tough game against Barnsley next round. Paris lose Stop for 1 game due to suspension and he will miss next weeks game against Frogner.

Completely static this week for the first time this season... Will it stay this way?

Well Smegovic really shot up the leader-board this week after single-handedly giving it to Barnsley this week. Unfortunately he is going to have to approximately double his effort each week left if he is to catch Leo.
Well Tarkel jumps from 5th to 3rd this week putting a bit of pressure on his team mate Bindi at the top of the table.

Can anyone make it to 30 pts???? There is a 3 game suspension on offer here to the one who can make the hard yards. Interestingly this is the only table that 3rd placed Spartak actually have a player in the top 10. Way to go boys.   Well Leos lead was short lived. 1 week later Jones takes the lead again from the goal scoring freak at Caledonia.. The question is can he keep that lead.

Welcome to the Round 15 Division 3 Report. This week we had another week of mainly draws and the removal of Saskatoon from the playoff race. The top 5 teams are all still in the competition and all team mathematically can still be eliminated.

Saskatoon players celebrate their win!
Well Paris have made sure they are going to be at least in play offs this season, while Barnsley drop out of contention for the 2nd play off position. Spartak and Houston are now the 2 teams left fighting for this spot. Houston have a tough run with Saskatoon and Api to play (and must win both games) while Spartak play Barnsley and Caledonia (an even tougher assignment) and just need 2 points to make sure they reach the play offs 2 years running.
