Round 11

Nitro V Spartak Table Moves
Saskatoon V Eastern Table
Houston V Api Scorers /Assists
Pasmaters V Barnsley DPS /Performers
AMU V Besiktas

Round 11 has got to be the lowest scoring round for a long time with a paltry 8 goals scored. Come on we can do better than this.

Nitro FC 1 - 0 Spartak Haifa
M_Schneider (nit) 81'

This was a hard physical game where each side seemed to try their hardest to incapacitate their opponents, the amazing thing is that only one player got their marching orders during the game. Although Nitro only just won the game in the 81st minute they were far the dominant team with the Spartak forwards not troubling the Nitro keeper once. Another indicator of the hardness of the game was that no less than 5 players were injured during the game with Nitro losing 4 of them, 2 of them Keepers. Spartak played for quite some time down to 10 men when their Midfielder Hendrix was sent off for trying the refs patience once too often.

Claudio may be happy with the result and the 3 points but his team really paid for it with 4 players injured for a combined total of 21 weeks. Sinus won’t be back until round 16, Zaza a week later and Raphaelle is out for the season. However they do get Citroen and Donatello back from suspension and Perhaps more importantly Vendelboe makes a return from injury. Spartak on the other hand lose Hendrix and Makakito but see Vandoink, Tamakawa and Monday return for their next game.

Saskatoon Wanderers 2 - 0 Eastern FC
Alfalfio (sas) 41'
Alfalfio (sas) 66'

Saskatoon continue their best ever season with a good 2-0 win over the much improved Eastern. Eugene has finally got Saskatoon playing to their full potential after several very ordinary seasons and is looking pretty good 5 points ahead of the second placed Nitro. This weeks player to shine for Saskatoon was Alfalfio whose 2 goals in the 41st and 66th minutes ensured that the toon boys would keep on keeping on and extend their lead in the Championship.

More good news for Saskatoon is the return of both Danilov and Ieja from suspension and the news that Grommel wont miss next weeks game. Frank however will be annoyed that Eastern failed to at least grab a point and that Glicic is going to be sitting on the sidelines for 3 weeks due to injury. The only bright news is that Wong will be back next week after his stint out for being a bad boy.

Houston Odyssey 1 - 1 Apijarevoleada APR
P_Smegovic (api) 22'
M_Medinna (hou) 24' pen

Houston and Api have been playing quite well recently and there is not too much between the two teams. Api got the ball rolling when superboot Smeggie put the ball away into the back of the Houston net to make it 1-0 to the visitors. Unfortunately for Jesus and the boys at the Api club (although probably not so API this week) jus 2 minutes later a brain explosion in their own box gave Houston a shot at drawing level. Penalty to Houston… taken… score Houston 1, Api 1. That’s the way it stayed for the rest of the game.

Smegovic hurt his groin when he waved his wedding tackle at the Houston home crowd after he scored his goal, he played on but had to go off later and will now miss their next game. Better news for the Api lads is the fact that youngster PR Vem (who is a very API boy har har!) managed to avoid old shafty when it was revealed afterwards that he played the entire game wearing titanium underpants in an attempt to thwart the furry rectal reamer. It explains why TFRR didn’t make an attempt on such a tempting young target, it also explains why Vem was running the way he was.

Pasmaters 1 - 1 Barnsley Tykes
X_Hendric (bar) 3'
Roy (pas) 36'

This has been a very good year for Pasmaters so far, especially when you consider that they only just missed the drop last season. Barnsley on the other hand have had an amazingly bad season with this game being only the 3rd time they have actually picked up a point. For once Barnsley started very well and actually scored 1st in the 3rd minute when Hendric broke a Barnsley record by actually scoring. This seemed to throw the Pasmaters boys as they were expecting to be about 4 goals up themselves by that stage. Their bemusement lasted about 30 odd minutes before Roy finally managed to get an equaliser. Barnsley however were not be denied something and managed to hold out for the rest of the game for a share of the spoils.

Pasmaters bad boys managed to annoy the ref enough that 3 of them will be sitting in the grandstands for 1 or 2 games. Ilic and Diehard sit out for 1 while Molder warms the bench for 2. Some good news for Pasmaters is the return of Delphi from injury, unfortunately Bollokov replaces him in the infirmary.

Aussie Man Utd 0 - 1 Besiktas
A_Eltawil (bes) 31'

Both teams came into this ex Div 4 grudge match with some players out and it was the Besiktas boy Eltawil who broke the deadlock and secured the points for Besiktas when he converted a chance in the 31st minute. From then on the score sheet was not troubled by either team but that will annoy Ian more than Cagri.

Ian may however wish that he had been able to play his rival next Saturday rather than the one just gone as he would have been able to field a full strength team as he gets back Stam, Roche and Keane. Cagri probably wouldn’t have minded playing next week as Roon makes a return but since he got the points this week he is unlikely ask for a rematch.

Nitro are the real improvers although Besiktas have also done well.

Roy goes further ahead after he scored again this weekend. Vendleboe is back from injury and Hoppa better start pulling his finger out.   Saint is doing very nicely with Glicic just behind him. Two ex div 2 players top the list.

Molder jumps to 6th place and all but 2 of the top 10 have or are serving 2 week bans.   Some relative unknowns leading the way here and interestingly the top 3 are all Defenders.
