Well Saskatoon have done everything right so far this season, on
top of the table with a healthy goal difference, things just look
good for them. This week they hosted the 2nd placed side Nitro who
could have been neck and neck with Saskatoon if they hadn't had
all the drama at the start of the season. Well this was the chance
to take a 3 point bite out of Saskatoons lead and they came out
firing. Citroen and Corn got Nitro off to a flyer when they scored
in the 6th and 7th minute and when Vendleboe put a penalty away
just after half time Saskatoon were gone. Unfortunately for Claudio
and Nitro Saskatoon didn't realise that and within half an hour
had clawed back a point.
The only dampener for Saskatoon is the injury to Arabic which will
see him out for 3 weeks. There are some who embrace the monkey and
some who don't, Saskatoons Alfalfio is one of the latter and he
would have been pleased to avoid some monkey loving. Nitros weekend
was not so sunny, not only did they drop 2 points but lose even
more players, not injuries this time but suspensions. Knecht is
out for 1 game while serial offender Citroen is the first Div 3
player to be suspended for 3 weeks. The only good thing for them
is the fact that Schneider makes his return.

There are some games where not much goes right for you. This was
the case for Spartak this week against Houston. Spartak started
well when Hopoate scored in the 35th minute but just 5 or so minutes
later came a bad blow for Spartak when Vandoink was stretchered
off. Normally this would be seen as just be a bit of bad luck, the
bench defender would come on and the game would continue. Unfortunately
for Spartak they had already used their Defenders replacement and
so had to field a very young and inexperienced Midfielder in his
place. Not long after that Houston got their first goal when Scorer
and Joaoe combined to score. Just 15 minutes later and Scorer got
a goal for himself when Lotov fouled someone in the box and a penalty
was awarded. This just spurred Spartak on and just 2 minutes later
Defender O'Flynn beat his marker and earned Spartak a point by putting
it past the Houston Goalkeeper Grobbelaar. Man of the Match must
have gone to the Houston goalie as he was superb saving 10 shots
and keeping his composure under constant pressure from the Spartak
attackers and Iggy will be very pleased he withstood it as he didn't
have much cover at all.
Both Luther and Narms will be very relieved they didn't have a
visit from the Monkey but less pleasing to Iggy will be the loss
of Flago for 3 weeks and Lihhma for 1 game. Spartak will be annoyed
with the draw and the loss of Vandoink for 4 weeks but will be relieved
to have Hendrix back from his suspension.

Pasmaters are another team who are going great guns this season,
especially when you consider their last seasons form. They started
very well with Koren sneaking a goal in the 28th minute and Division
Leading Goal scorer Roy made it 2-0 just 5 minutes before half time.
Eastern were looking rattled and Frank was chewing his fingernails
when Radgavaro finally gave the home side something to cheer about
when he bagged himself a goal just minutes before the break. Pasmaters
went into the half time break 2-1 up but it looked like the momentum
was shifting. This was proved when just after a minute back into
the game Radgavaro scored again to the rapturous applause of the
fans. This started chants of "We want 3! We want 3" which to the
disappointment of the Eastern Fans never happened and so for the
3rd time this weekend we have a draw.
Cagri won't be too disappointed with the point but will be pleased
to see Ilic, Jensen and Diehard back from suspension next game.
Unfortunately though Gualle will miss next weeks game through injury.
Good news also for Eastern, Cheung is back from suspension and the
injury to Wai was not as bad as first thought and he will be back
next week.

Apijarevoleada APR 0 - 2 Aussie Man Utd

This week sees the clash of the 'A' teams. Api the Home team, tough
to beat and looking to mash their opposition, AMU the Challengers,
underdogs and very beatable. Api have been a wee bit inconsistent
this season, looked the goods one week then crash and burn the next(or
crash and draw). AMU on the other hand have not exactly struggled
but have shown some flashes of brilliance at times and then have
played less than brilliantly at others. This result is definitely
one of AMUs better ones but one Api will be less than stoked with.
Webber got the ball rolling for the visitors in the 23rd minute
and for the next 50 minutes no more scoring shots were counted until
the 73rd when Cole banged in the winner.
With all the work he has to do it's no wonder Steensgaard is so
good. He could be the reason that AMU stay up this season and as
he gets another SL increase getting past him will be that much harder.
Api and Jesus actually have an excuse for the home loss, key injuries.
Colosimo, Agpensa and superboot Smegovic were all out this week
but will be back for next weeks game against Barnsley. All I can
say is… watch out Barnsley.

Barnsley Tykes 0 - 3 Besiktas
Kachi (bes) 22'
A_Eltawil (bes) 62'
Apijinho (bes) 76'
|
|

|
Besiktas are a team who either win or lose there are no half measures.
After today's effort they now have 6 wins no draws and 6 losses.
Even their for and against is even. Barnsley on the other hand only
won their 1st game a few weeks ago and are in a real danger of being
relegated. Besiktas were 'on' this week and hand Barnsley their
9th loss of the season so far. Three players for Besiktas scored
this week Kachi, Eltawil and Apijinho and the because of all the
other draws this week Besiktas win sees them jump to 5th spot.
Besiktas good news just keeps coming with Mehmet back next week
having served his suspension. Barnsley however lose Mlekuz and Hendrc
through injury and suspension for 1 and 4 weeks respectively. The
only good news for Barnsley is the return of Wessels and Shivute
for next weeks game against an Api team out to make a statement.
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
Pretty much everyone stays static except for Spartak
and Api who drop one place each and Besiktas who leapfrog both those
teams. It will be interesting to see if Besiktas can keep going becasuse
it was this time in the first half of the season that saw them lose
places alarmingly. If Cagri can keep the momentum he is in with a
big shot. |

Citroen has given himself 6 weeks off so
far this season and it wouldn't be impossible for him to take some
into next season as well. To put it bluntly, the guy's a bludger. |
|
It is interesting that only 1 of the top
3 strikers in the division is in this list. Anyhow its very close
and is going to be very interesting to see who comes out on top. |
