Round 14

Pasmaters V Nitro Table Moves
Houston V AMU Table
Saskatoon V Besiktas Scorers /Assists
Spartak V Barnsley DPS /Performers
Eastern V Api

Well either the forwards are getting tired or the defences are getting better. Just a measley 9 goals scored this week.

Pasmaters 1 - 0 Nitro FC
H_Blomqvist (pas) 29'

Pasmaters came into this game 2 points behind Nitro so it was very important for Cagri's boys to get a decent result. Nitro have been doing very well especially when you consider that all their goal keepers are sitting in the stands injured and I have to wonder who they managed to install there this week. Pasmaters were never going to get a better chance at getting on top of their rivals and Claudio must have been praying for a miracle. Well luckily for both managers they sort of got what they wanted. Cagri got the win he so desparately wanted and Claudio got the miracle he needed, namely that they didn't get flogged 9-0 and the final score of 1-0 was, quite frankly, amazing. Blomqvist secured all the points for Pasmaters in the 29th minute and it seems that not much else happened in the game.

Nitro manager Claudio will be very happy that he gets the services of Saint, Citroen and probably most importantly Rufai back for next weeks game. The only turd in the swimming pool will be the loss of Vendelboe out suspended for a week.

Houston Odyssey 0 - 1 Aussie Man Utd
K_Stam (amu) 26'

Before this game AMU were in danger of losing contact with the teams above them on the table, but in the 26th minute of their game against the 4th placed Houston their defender Stam managed to misskick the ball past the mortified Houston goalkeeper. The Houston boys were quite frankly shocked that a player with such an amazing low shooting skill could have beaten even an 8th rate goalie and this shot them for the rest of the game. Ian was quite frankly delighted with the shot but even he had to admit that it was probably more arse than class. Iggy on the other hand was seen being carried from the field in deep shock and there was some concern that he may slip into a coma. This didn't happen and he staggered off to the sheds at half time to try and rally his troops. It didn't work.

Houston probably receive the "When Shit Happens it REALLY Happens Award" for this week, as not only do they lose by 1 goal taken by someone who would usually have troubles scoring against a blind legless goalie from 5 yards, they also lose Luther and Melita for 1 week due to suspension. The only vaguely bright side of this weekend was the return of both Narms and Scorer for next weeks game.

Saskatoon Wanderers 1 - 1 Besiktas
A_Eltawil (bes) 50'
Alfalfio (sas) 57'

You would have to have said that the way Saskatoon have been going so far this season that they would have to have gone into this game as very, very firm favourites. Obviously no one told the Besiktas boys this and they managed to open the scoring not long after the teams came out again after half time. There were some scowls on the Saskatoon bench after Eltawils goal took the visitors 1 nil up but this changed to smiles of their own when Alfalfio evened the score just 7 minutes later. After that brief exchange of goals neither side troubled the scorer for the rest of the game, so 1-1 it ended. Cagri will be very pleased that his team went to Saskatoon and came away with a share of the points. Eugene on the other hand while annoyed perhaps that his team failed to deal with their unfancied opponents will be happy to know that it didn't cost them much of their lead in the Championship.

The only downer for Cagri this week is the suspension of the goal scorer Eltawil for excessive celebration after his goal. This commentator is not surprised with the ban, as whipping out the old feller and waving it at the opposition while screaming "My dick can play better than you bastards"must be discouraged.

Spartak Haifa 0 - 1 Barnsley Tykes
E_Shivute (bar) 81'

After a pretty good start to the season Spartak have been hit hard by Injury and suspension. Before this game they had 5 1st squad players and 1 backup on the sideline and were looking very thin at the back. Barnsley on the other hand had both Angus and Hendric out and had been in poor form all season. Spartak went into this game only having managed to take 2 points from the previous 3 games and were sliding dangerously down the table. Barnsley however have not moved on the table since round 1 when they dropped to 10th and havn't moved since, so it was going to be an interesting game for both teams. Not much happened in the 1st half except the sending off of defender Indido after being booked twice. More bad luck for Spartak after the break when young Tobiason (another defender) injured himself and had to be replaced. Due to the threadbare stocks of Spartaks defenders a midfielder came on to take his place in tbe defensive line. Neither team was exactly setting the world on fire and it was looking like it was going to be a 0-0 draw untill the 81st minute when Shivute won only the second game thi season for Barnsley.

Another 2 Defenders bite the dust for Spartak with Tobiason out for the season and Indido missing the next game. The good news for Spartak is the return of 1st team midfielder Lotov and Utility McShafty and the return of Makakito balances the loss of Indido. Barnley lose Eeeee but gain Angus back from injury.

Eastern FC 2 - 2 Apijarevoleada APR
WT_Wong (eas) 6'
Threefeet (api) 11'
D_Prosinecki (api) 47'
R_Cheng (eas) 82'

Both Eastern and Api have been having off and on seasons. One minute they look hot the next… well… not. This was a game that could go either way, but in the end didn't. Eastern started the scoring in the 6th minute when Wong managed to beat the Api goalkeeper. This lead did not last long with the amusingly named Threefeet bringing Api back to level terms in the 11th minute. Just after half time it was Api's turn to take the lead when Prosinecki scored his 3rd goal pf the season. It was looking like it was going to be and Appy afternoon for Api and the home fans were starting to leave when the aging midfiled star Cheng salvaged a point for Eastern with only 8 minutes to go. Jesus was fuming but Frank was grinning.

Well they may not have won but Jesus must have had a smile on his dial when he saw that both his defenders who received SL increases avoided the monkey and not only that but he also gets PR Vem back from suspension the only thing he could grumble about is the suspension of Meller. Frank on the other hand while happy about Glicic and Wai back from injury will probably be cursing Chiesa and Yeung for managing to get themselves suspended for 2 aqnd 1 game respectively.

Pasmaters jumps into 2nd place again, Spartak continue their slide and Eastern start their climb again.

Saskatoon maintain their lead even though they drew and 2nd placed Pasmaters won. Just 6 points separates 2nd to 9th makes it all very close.
