Round 6

AMU V Nitro Table Moves
Pasmaters V Besiktas Table
Houston V Barnsley Scorers /Assists
Saskatoon V Api DPS /Performers
Spartak V Eastern

Only 12 goals score this week. At this rate we will end up with 5 nil all draws at the end round 18. That would be fun.

Aussie Man Utd 0 - 2 Nitro FC
P_Vendelboe (nit) 44'
P_Vendelboe (nit) 67'

AMU faced the might of Nitro this week, a Nitro who have been less than entirely impressive so far this season if truth be told. AMU have two wins so far but they must have been hoping that Nitros superstars were slacking off so that they would be able to jag a draw at least. Unfortunately for them this was not the case. Vendelboe got the 1st for Nitro just a minute or two before half time and then sealed the match for his team not long after the break. Vendelboe has been rather quiet of late after roaring away in the 1st game of the season but this double will keep him in touch at least with the leaders.

The Shaft Simian was nowhere to be seen at this game and Scholes managed a correct SL increase which will be a great relief for his Manager Ian. AMU also welcome back Roche from suspension but unfortunately wave goodbye to another defender in H_Neville who will spend the next game watching from the stands.

Pasmaters 1 - 0 Besiktas
Roy (pas) 19' pen

The battle of the two Cagris was going to be interesting. Cagri K's Pasmaters have been a revelation this season after only just avoiding the drop last year. Cagri S's Besiktas were promoted to the 3rd Division after a good run and he was last seasons Manager of the year. Both managers will probably be annoyed with the result. Cagri K will be miffed that his team only managed to win by a single goal (and a penalty at that) while Cagri S will be pissed for exactly the same reason. This win however meagre it was will see Pasmaters jump to the top of the table if Saskatoon falter. It looks as if it is going to be an interesting year.

Jensen was the Pasmaters player this week nervous about unauthorised rectal examinations but Cagri K (after last weeks successful save of Crowley) had the same security precautions in place so the Monkey was not to be seen. Good news for the two teams as they both welcome back players from suspension, Molder for Pasmaters and Mehmet for Besiktas. Pasmaters however lose Revivo for 3 weeks due to a leg injury.

Houston Odyssey 2 - 0 Barnsley Tykes
M_Medinna (hou) 48'
J_Scorer (hou) 71'

Houston have been playing quite well this season (much like they did last season) but the difference is that they are now winning at home where last season their points mainly came away from their home ground (much to the chagrin of their supporters). Not this year where 10 of their 11 points have come at home. Barnsley on the other hand cannot take a trick this season, before this game they were the only team yet to actually score in a game let alone win one. This game was no different and they crash to their 5th loss. In a mirror of the AMU/Nitro game the Houston winning goals were scored in the 48th and 71st minutes exactly 4 minutes later than the Nitro goals that were in the 44th and 67th minutes. Oooooooh Twilight Zone stuff.

No Monkey to be seen this week as neither teams had players close enough for a SL increase. Both teams get players back though, Barnsley get Samoscanec back from Suspension while Houston get Alvarez and Tanker back from suspension and injury. Barnsley get a further blow with Mlekuz out for a week.

Saskatoon Wanderers 1 - 3 Apijarevoleada APR
M_Coat (sas) 2'
P_Smegovic (api) 54' pen
P_Smegovic (api) 62'
P_Smegovic (api) 89'

Before this game Saskatoon have been red hot banging in plenty of goals and conceding even less. Api on the other hand were conceding more than they scored. Not this week. Coat got the ball rolling for Saskatoon in just the 2nd minute and Api Manager Jesus must have been worried that worse was to come. He needn't have worried as his super striker Smegovic was steeling himself for a big game, first getting his eye in with a penalty then letting loose in the 62nd and 89th minute to give Api a much needed 3-1 win. That will make Jesus much happier than he was last week, when it was obvious from his mauling of a reporter that he was in a Baaaaaddd mood.

Where is Shafty this week? This is the 4th game and he has still not been sighted. This could have been in part due to the fact that Smegovic had stated publicly when asked by a reporter "was he nervous about his impending SL increase" that he was a total sadist he knew exactly what to do with small brown animals who annoyed him. Once again both teams get some players back for their next games. Saskatoon get Edknapp back from suspension and Api have Mashburn returning from injury. Saskatoon however have insult added to injury when they see Close out for a game and Bong sidelined through injury for a week.

Spartak Haifa 2 - 1 Eastern FC
T_Sokota (hai) 21'
K_Wai (eas) 25'
T_Sokota (hai) 54'

Although this game was between the 3rd and 8th placed teams it was always going to be tight. Spartak have obviously decided to go the Caledonia route and have opted to be a 1 man superstriker team this season and have had reasonable results so far. Eastern on the other hand have a very good team but they have never seemed to have gotten out of first gear so far this season. With Spartak having Hopoate (their superstriker)up front and doing well it was just a matter of time before other teams tried to mark him out of the match, and this is what Eastern did. However while heavily marking Hoppa meant that he was unlikely to score it did leave opportunities for Spartaks other strikers and the old warhorse Sokota took advantage of that scoring the 2 Spartak goals to win them the match. It was a very even match with both teams taking 8 shots at goal but importantly for Spartak, Easterns last gasp goal in the 88th minute was disallowed by the Ref for something only he could see and Spartak breathed a sigh of relief.

Spartaks Forward McShafty was a very nervous boy this week when it was heard that the SM™ had not made an appearance at any of the other games, and was nowhere to be seen at this one either. Unfortunately for him though, in his anxiety he turned his back on one of his team mates (you guessed it… the Hoppa boy) and that was it. He forgot about the SM™ Apprentice and was made to pay. Both teams lose a player this week, Spartak lose Alvarez who was sent off during the game and Eastern miss KH_Man for a week due to injury. Eastern do get back however both Yau and Kalkanou from injury.

Positions 3,4,5 and 10 stay static, every one else moves. The biggest mover this week goes to Nitro who jump from 9th to 6th. Are they on a comeback?

Pasmaters win sees them move to 1st position again with both Saskatoon and Spartak close behind. Barnsley still to score a goal are sitting comfortably in last spot and are firming favourites to drop down to 4th Div.

Roys 1 goal sees him extend his lead over finger boy and the Besiktas/AMU duo who also did sod all this weekend, Vendelboe is on the move again after a lull.   Not much happening here this week except Hendrix jumps into 4th spot because he has played less games than K_Do and Q_Scholes.

Spartaks Alvarez jumps into 1st spot with a finely worked red carding on the weekend.   Roy extends lead by 4 pts over Agpensa, but KH_Man made the biggest move jumping from 6th to 3rd picking up 23 pts. The one strange one is Close who lost 6 pts this week, which I presume is for his carding.
